SUPPORT ENGINEER – LEUVEN (BELGIUM) – PERMANENT POSITION

 

We’re currently recruiting for a Support Engineer to join a network operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for the real-time supervision, monitoring, and operational support of critical network infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance across the environment.

 

You will act as a key point of contact for network incidents, working to quickly identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues that may impact service. This includes analyzing alerts, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring timely escalation when needed. The position requires a strong operational mindset, the ability to stay calm under pressure, and a commitment to maintaining service quality.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Monitor and supervise network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and uptime
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve network incidents in a timely manner
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures
  • Support maintenance activities, upgrades, and network changes
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to resolve complex issues
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations and incidents
  • Participate in on-call rotations when required
  • Provide clear communication and updates to stakeholders

 

Requirements:

 

  • Fluency in Dutch (spoken and written) and good command of English
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching)
  • Experience with network monitoring tools and incident management systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot network issues methodically under pressure
  • Familiarity with protocols such as BGP, OSPF, MPLS is an advantage
  • Basic knowledge of Linux/Unix systems is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication skills, especially in high-pressure situations
  • Team-oriented with a proactive mindset
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies
