Senior Planning Manager – Residential Development
I’m currently working with a well-established residential developer in Kent that is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Planning Manager to join its growing land and planning team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious planning professional to play a key role in securing planning permissions and driving residential developments from land acquisition through to consent. You’ll work closely with the Land, Technical and Commercial teams, managing planning strategy across a portfolio of sites while engaging with Local Authorities, consultants and key stakeholders.
The Role
As Senior Planning Manager, you’ll be responsible for leading the planning process across multiple residential developments, ensuring projects progress efficiently through the planning system.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing planning strategies for residential developments.
- Managing planning applications from pre-application stage through to determination.
- Liaising with Local Planning Authorities, statutory consultees and external stakeholders.
- Managing planning appeals where required.
- Coordinating and managing external planning consultants and technical teams.
- Supporting the Land team with planning due diligence on potential acquisitions.
- Identifying planning risks and opportunities across development sites.
- Preparing planning appraisals and advising on planning policy.
- Building strong relationships with Local Authorities and key stakeholders.
- Monitoring changes to planning legislation and policy to ensure best practice.
- Working collaboratively with internal departments including Land, Technical, Design and Construction.
About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have:
- MRTPI qualified (or working towards accreditation).
- Significant planning experience within a residential developer, planning consultancy or Local Authority.
- Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and residential development process.
- Experience managing planning applications for residential-led developments.
- Excellent understanding of national and local planning policy.
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to balance planning objectives with business needs.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
