Our client is an established and respected planning consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering expert planning advice across a wide range of sectors. Due to continued growth and an expanding project pipeline, they are seeking a talented Senior Town Planner to join their Manchester office.

The Role
As a Senior Town Planner, you will be responsible for managing planning projects, advising clients on planning strategy, and supporting the successful delivery of planning applications and appeals. You will work closely with colleagues, local authorities, developers, and other stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for clients.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take ownership of projects, develop client relationships, and contribute to the continued growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing planning applications and appeals from preparation through to determination.
- Providing strategic planning advice to a diverse range of clients.
- Preparing planning statements, appraisal reports, and supporting documentation.
- Undertaking site assessments and planning policy reviews.
- Liaising with local authorities, consultees, and project teams.
- Attending client meetings, public consultations, and planning committees.
- Supporting business development initiatives and helping to identify new opportunities.
- Assisting with the mentoring and development of junior planning staff.
- Monitoring changes to planning legislation and policy.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Town Planning or a related discipline.
- MRTPI qualified or working towards chartered status.
- Previous experience within a planning consultancy, developer, or local authority setting.
- Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and planning policy framework.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Commercially aware with a proactive and client-focused approach.
Desirable Experience
- Exposure to residential, commercial, mixed-use, or strategic land projects.
- Experience managing client relationships and project budgets.
- Ability to support and mentor junior colleagues.
