Senior Town Planner

Are you an experienced Town Planner looking to take the next step in your career?

Our client, a respected and growing planning and development consultancy based in Preston, is seeking a talented Senior Town Planner to join its expanding team. Working across a diverse portfolio of residential, mixed-use, regeneration and strategic land projects, you will play a key role in shaping developments that create lasting value for communities and stakeholders.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious planning professional who enjoys managing projects, building client relationships and contributing to the delivery of high-quality development schemes throughout the North West and beyond.

The Role

As a Senior Town Planner, you will be responsible for leading planning projects from inception through to determination, providing strategic planning advice and supporting clients through every stage of the development process.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a range of planning applications, appeals and development proposals.
  • Preparing high-quality planning reports, statements and representations.
  • Advising clients on planning strategy, development opportunities and planning risk.
  • Undertaking site appraisals, planning due diligence and policy reviews.
  • Liaising with local authorities, consultees, stakeholders and project teams.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior members of the planning team.
  • Assisting with business development activities and client relationship management.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • A degree and/or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline.
  • MRTPI status, or be working towards chartership.
  • Previous experience within a planning consultancy, local authority, developer or housebuilder environment.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and current planning policy.
  • Excellent communication, report-writing and project management skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining high standards of work.
