The Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Town Planner to join the team based in London. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects, managing planning applications and providing strategic planning advice to a broad client base.
The successful candidate will play a key role in project delivery, client management, and supporting junior team members, while also contributing to business development activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a varied caseload of planning projects from inception through to determination.
- Prepare and submit planning applications, appeals, and supporting documentation.
- Provide clear and commercially focused planning advice to clients.
- Undertake site appraisals and planning policy research.
- Liaise with local authorities, consultants, stakeholders, and clients throughout the planning process.
- Attend client meetings, public consultations, and planning committees where required.
- Support senior leadership in developing client relationships and identifying new business opportunities.
- Mentor and support junior planners within the team.
- Monitor changes in planning legislation and policy to ensure best practice advice.
Skills & Experience
- Degree qualified in Town Planning or a related discipline.
- MRTPI qualified or working towards chartership.
- Proven experience within a planning consultancy or local authority environment.
- Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and planning policy framework.
- Excellent report writing, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively under pressure.
- Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
- Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to problem solving.
Desirable
- Experience across residential and strategic land projects.
- Established network within the planning and development sector.
- Experience mentoring junior staff members.
