Senior Commissioning Engineer
I’m supporting customers in high-tech and industrial sectors who are looking for a Senior Commissioning Engineer to configure, test, and commission complex electrical installations in both national and international environments. This role is ideal for an experienced commissioning professional with strong expertise in electrical engineering, power conversion, and high-voltage systems who enjoys working on technically advanced projects within critical industries such as defence and uranium enrichment.
Role Overview
As a Senior Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for independently carrying out commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and startup activities for advanced electrical installations and systems. You will work on-site in technically complex environments, ensuring installations meet performance, quality, and safety requirements.
You will play a key role within a highly specialized technical division, supporting projects related to uranium enrichment systems, radar drive systems for naval vessels, and high-performance power supply solutions. The role combines hands-on field work, testing and maintenance activities, technical reporting, and close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and international stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
• Independently perform commissioning, startup, testing, and troubleshooting activities for electrical installations and systems.
• Configure, test, and validate high-voltage and power conversion systems in accordance with technical specifications and industry standards.
• Analyse technical issues and deviations systematically and implement sustainable solutions on-site.
• Perform on-site troubleshooting and corrective actions at customer locations domestically and internationally.
• Coordinate with project teams, suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
• Apply relevant standards, procedures, and guidelines including ISO, NEN, and international regulations.
• Prepare and maintain commissioning reports, test documentation, and technical records.
Skills & Experience
• Completed Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in commissioning, startup, or testing of electrical installations.
• Strong expertise in electrical engineering, high-voltage systems, and power conversion technology.
• Experience working in technically complex and highly regulated environments.
• Knowledge of standards and regulations such as ISO, NEN, and other international engineering guidelines.
• Willingness to travel internationally on a regular basis for short-term assignments.
• Due to the nature of the projects, candidates must hold Dutch, German, UK, French, or American nationality and be willing to undergo security and financial screening.
• Experience within defence, offshore, energy, or critical infrastructure industries is considered a strong advantage.
