Job Title: Class 2D Building Control Inspector (Part-Time)
Location: Essex
Contract Type: 6-Month Agency Contract
Rate: £60 per hour
Overview:
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Class 2D Building Control Inspector to join a local authority team in Essex on a part-time, 6-month contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified professional to contribute to a busy Building Control service, ensuring compliance with Building Regulations across a varied portfolio of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out site inspections to ensure compliance with Building Regulations and associated legislation
- Assess and approve building plans and applications
- Provide professional advice to contractors, developers, and members of the public
- Ensure all work meets required safety, sustainability, and accessibility standards
- Maintain accurate records and prepare detailed inspection reports
- Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders as required
Requirements:
- Class 2D (or equivalent) registration with the Building Safety Regulator
- Proven experience working within Building Control, ideally in a local authority setting
- Strong knowledge of current Building Regulations and associated legislation
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills
- Ability to manage workload independently and prioritise effectively
- Full UK driving licence (desirable)
