Private Sector Housing Officer (HMO Focus)

Location: Kent (Hybrid Working)
Contract: Initial 6 Months (Likely Extension)
Hours: 37 hours per week

Overview

We are currently partnering with a Local Authority in Kent to recruit an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer on an initial 6-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy and supportive team, contributing to the enforcement and improvement of standards within the private rented sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting HMO inspections (licensed and unlicensed) in line with current legislation
  • Investigating and responding to housing complaints within the private rented sector
  • Assessing property conditions and ensuring compliance with housing standards
  • Taking appropriate enforcement action where necessary
  • Liaising with landlords, tenants, and other key stakeholders

Requirements

  • Proven experience working within Private Sector Housing
  • Strong working knowledge of HMO regulations and housing legislation
  • Experience conducting inspections and handling complaint cases
  • Ability to manage caseloads independently
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
