Experienced Planner – Rural Planning Focus
Location: Challock, Kent

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Planner to join our growing team based in Challock, Kent. Working within a well-established multi-disciplinary consultancy, you will play a key role in delivering planning advice and securing successful outcomes for a diverse range of rural, residential, commercial and land-based projects across the South East and beyond.

This is an exciting opportunity for a planning professional looking to develop their career within a collaborative environment that combines planning, architecture, surveying, environmental and rural consultancy expertise.

The Role

You will be responsible for managing a varied portfolio of planning projects, providing strategic planning advice, preparing and submitting planning applications, and representing clients throughout the planning process. A particular focus will be placed on rural planning matters, including agricultural development, diversification schemes, rural housing, estate projects and countryside development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing planning applications from inception through to determination.

  • Preparing planning statements, appraisals and supporting documentation.

  • Advising clients on planning strategy, development potential and policy matters.

  • Liaising with local authorities, consultees and stakeholders.

  • Undertaking site appraisals and planning due diligence exercises.

  • Supporting business development activities and maintaining strong client relationships.

  • Keeping abreast of planning policy and legislative changes affecting rural development.

About You

  • MRTPI qualified (or working towards chartership with significant experience).

  • Proven experience within a planning consultancy, local authority or related environment.

  • Strong understanding of the UK planning system, with experience of rural planning issues highly desirable.

  • Excellent report writing, communication and project management skills.

  • Commercial awareness and the ability to build lasting client relationships.

  • Full UK driving licence.
