IT Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Remote (initial onsite onboarding for 1–2 weeks, followed by occasional visits as required)
Start Date: July 2026
Contract Length: 6 Months + Possible Extension
Hours: 32–40 hours per week
Overview
We’re currently supporting a client looking to engage an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer to support and optimise their Linux-based environments. This position will play a key role in maintaining server infrastructure, improving system reliability and supporting automation initiatives across the wider engineering function.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in Linux administration, troubleshooting and infrastructure support, alongside experience working within modern development and deployment environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, monitor and improve Linux server infrastructure
- Troubleshoot system, network and application-level issues
- Carry out debugging, root cause analysis and performance optimisation
- Support and improve CI/CD pipelines and automation processes
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure stable and scalable environments
- Assist with infrastructure configuration, deployment and maintenance activities
- Contribute to documentation and best practice improvements
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong Linux administration experience, particularly within Debian and Ubuntu server environments
- Solid troubleshooting and debugging capabilities
- Experience working with:
- Git
- CMake
- Podman
- Rsync
- Scripting and automation experience using Bash, Python or similar
- Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
- Comfortable working independently within a remote-first environment
Nice to Have
- Exposure to or experience with C++
- Experience supporting development or embedded engineering environments
- Knowledge of containerised infrastructure and DevOps tooling
