Interim QA Engineer – Food Manufacturing / Bakery

Contract: Interim / Freelance
Duration: 6 months
Start Date: Within the next 2 weeks
Hours: 32 hours per week (4 days/week), ideally full-time on-site

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Interim QA Engineer to support a bakery and food manufacturing operation based in Groningen. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining quality assurance standards, supporting customer and supplier compliance activities, and ensuring adherence to food safety and certification requirements.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone comfortable working closely with production, technical, and commercial teams in a fast-paced food environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day Quality Assurance activities within the manufacturing site
- Complete and manage customer, supplier, and retailer technical questionnaires
- Maintain and support food safety and quality management systems
- Ensure compliance with relevant food safety standards and regulatory requirements
- Support halal and kosher certification processes and related documentation
- Assist with audits, CAPAs, and non-conformance investigations
- Work cross-functionally with production and technical teams to drive quality improvements
- Maintain accurate QA documentation and reporting
- Support customer technical requests and specification management
Requirements
- Proven experience in a QA / Quality Assurance role within food manufacturing
- Strong background in bakery, food tech, or FMCG food production environments
- Experience with halal and/or kosher certification processes
- Comfortable handling technical questionnaires and compliance documentation
- Knowledge of food safety standards and quality systems (e.g. HACCP, BRCGS, IFS)
- Fluent in both Dutch and English
- Able to work on-site in Groningen for the majority of the assignment
- Available to start within 2 weeks
