Graduate/Assistant Transport Planner

About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Graduate Transport Planner or a Transport Planner with some experience to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to develop a career in transport planning, working on a diverse range of projects across development planning, infrastructure, and sustainable transport.

You will support senior team members in delivering high-quality transport planning advice and contribute to projects that shape how people move within urban and rural environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, and Travel Plans
  • Support data collection, analysis, and interpretation (e.g. traffic counts, surveys, and modelling outputs)
  • Use transport modelling software and spreadsheets to analyse transport impacts
  • Contribute to technical reports, presentations, and client deliverables
  • Undertake site visits and assist with fieldwork when required
  • Liaise with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders
  • Stay informed on transport policy, guidance, and best practices

Requirements

  • A degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, Urban Planning, or work related experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn

Desirable Skills

  • Relevant work experience and interest in development-led transport planning
  • Knowledge of transport planning principles and UK planning policy
  • Familiarity with transport modelling tools (e.g. TRICS, TEMPro, ARCADY, PICADY)
  • Experience with AutoCAD and AutoTRACK
