Forward Deployed Engineer (Palantir Foundry)

The Opportunity

Vivid is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) with deep Palantir Foundry experience to help customers solve mission-critical business problems through data, analytics, AI, and operational applications.

This is not a traditional software engineering role.

As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will operate at the intersection of technology, business operations, and customer engagement. You will work directly with stakeholders to understand complex challenges, rapidly prototype solutions, deploy production-ready applications, and drive measurable outcomes.

Projects often begin with ambiguous business questions such as:

• How can we improve supply chain resilience?
• Why are customers churning?
• How can we identify fraud more effectively?
• How can operational teams make faster, data-driven decisions?
• How do we transform an AI proof-of-concept into an enterprise-scale solution?

You will own the full lifecycle of solution delivery—from discovery and architecture through deployment, adoption, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do

Partner Directly with Customers

• Embed with customer teams to understand operational challenges and business objectives.
• Translate complex business problems into scalable technical solutions.
• Facilitate workshops, requirements gathering sessions, and solution design discussions.
• Build trusted relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Design & Deploy Operational Solutions

• Develop end-to-end solutions using Palantir Foundry.
• Build operational workflows, decision-support applications, and data products that drive real-world outcomes.
• Design scalable ontologies that accurately model business processes and entities.
• Configure and deploy user-facing applications within Foundry.

Own the Delivery Lifecycle

• Lead projects from initial concept through production deployment.
• Rapidly prototype ideas and iterate based on stakeholder feedback.
• Support platform adoption and change management efforts.
• Ensure solutions remain scalable, reliable, and maintainable as customer requirements evolve.

Build Data & AI Applications

• Develop data pipelines using Foundry Pipeline Builder, Code Repositories, and Spark.
• Integrate data from enterprise systems, APIs, databases, and third-party platforms.
• Support AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics use cases.
• Enable operational decision-making through real-time and historical data insights.

Drive Technical Excellence

• Design robust architectures that balance performance, usability, and maintainability.
• Apply software engineering best practices across development and deployment.
• Optimize data workflows and platform performance.
• Collaborate with platform engineers, architects, and customer teams to deliver successful outcomes.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on Palantir Foundry experience in enterprise or production environments.
• Experience building operational applications, analytics solutions, or data products within Foundry.
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Ontology Manager
  • Pipeline Builder
  • Code Repositories
  • Workshop
  • Data Lineage and Governance
• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Experience working with Spark or PySpark.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Experience engaging directly with customers and business stakeholders.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as a Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Deployment Strategist, or Technical Consultant.
• Experience delivering AI/ML solutions within Foundry.
• Familiarity with TypeScript, React, or application development frameworks.
• Experience integrating enterprise platforms such as SAP, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Workday, Oracle, or Snowflake.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience supporting federal, defense, healthcare, financial services, or critical infrastructure customers.
