We are currently working with a local authority in the West Midlands to recruit an experienced Food Safety Officer or Environmental Health Officer to support their Environmental Health team on an initial 6 month contract.
This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the delivery of the council’s food hygiene inspection programme, with additional involvement in food standards work where experience allows.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct food hygiene inspections in line with the Food Law Code of Practice
- Carry out risk ratings and ensure compliance with relevant legislation
- Undertake revisits and follow up enforcement actions where required
- Provide advice and guidance to food business operators
- Investigate complaints relating to food safety
- Support delivery of food standards work including sampling and labelling where applicable
- Maintain accurate records and update internal systems
Requirements
- EHORB registration or equivalent
- Competency in line with the Food Law Code of Practice
- Proven experience delivering food hygiene inspections within a local authority
- Strong knowledge of UK food safety legislation
- Ability to work independently and manage a caseload
