We’re working with an international engineering organisation developing specialist vehicles and advanced vehicle systems, and they’re looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer & Tester to join their engineering team in Benschop.
This is a varied role sitting between embedded software development and software testing, with involvement across the development lifecycle. You’ll help turn software requirements into reliable vehicle functionality, while also making sure that what is developed performs as expected in real-world applications.
The position would suit someone who enjoys being close to both the software and the physical system, rather than working purely behind a screen.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll have a hands-on role across development, verification and testing, including:
- Developing embedded software for vehicle control systems
- Translating requirements into robust software functionality
- Designing and implementing new software features
- Creating and executing software tests to verify requirements
- Debugging software and investigating issues across the system
- Supporting software verification and validation activities
- Testing software at different stages of development, from simulation through to hardware and vehicle-level testing
- Analysing test results and using findings to improve software performance
- Working alongside electrical, electronics and other engineering disciplines
- Supporting vehicle commissioning, fault finding and troubleshooting where required
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of development and testing processes
What you’ll bring
We’re looking for someone who understands both embedded software development and structured testing and is comfortable working with complex vehicle systems.
You’ll ideally have:
- Professional experience in embedded software development
- Experience with software testing, verification or validation
- Strong programming and debugging skills
- Experience working with embedded or vehicle control systems
- An understanding of software development throughout the product lifecycle
- Experience working with hardware as part of software development or testing
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- The ability to work effectively with engineers from different technical disciplines
Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, CAN or model-based software development would be particularly relevant to the role.
The project
You’ll be joining an engineering environment where software is developed alongside the physical vehicle, meaning you’ll have the opportunity to see your work move from requirements and development through to hardware integration, testing and vehicle commissioning.
The wider organisation operates in the specialist vehicle sector, with a strong focus on engineering, innovation and developing new vehicle technologies.
