About the Client
Our client is delivering a major substation construction project in Sweden as part of a wider investment in critical power infrastructure. The project forms a key component of the region’s energy network expansion and requires experienced site-based engineering support to ensure quality, compliance, and successful project execution.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced CSA Resident Engineer to oversee Civil, Structural, and Architectural works throughout the construction phase of a large-scale substation project.
The successful candidate will act as the client’s representative on site, monitoring construction activities, observing quality and safety standards, and ensuring works are delivered in accordance with project specifications and engineering requirements. This position requires a strong site presence, excellent communication skills, and the ability to identify and escalate technical issues whilst coordinating effectively with contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders.
The role will involve daily reporting to the client, conducting inspections, monitoring progress, and providing independent observations and recommendations to support successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the client’s on-site representative for all Civil, Structural, and Architectural (CSA) construction activities
- Monitor and oversee CSA works associated with the construction of a new substation facility
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and project requirements
- Prepare and submit daily progress reports to the client, highlighting progress, observations, risks, and potential issues
- Liaise closely with engineering teams, contractors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders
- Identify construction issues, non-conformances, and quality concerns, providing recommendations for corrective actions
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure works are executed safely and efficiently
- Review construction activities against project schedules and report any delays or deviations
- Witness inspections, testing activities, and quality control processes as required
- Ensure all works comply with project quality requirements, industry standards, and local regulations
- Support project meetings and provide technical input on site-related matters
- Maintain accurate site records, observations, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle
- Escalate technical, quality, and construction concerns to the client project team where necessary
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience as a Resident Engineer, Site Engineer, Site Supervisor, or Construction Supervisor within major infrastructure, industrial, power, or energy projects
- Strong Civil, Structural, and Architectural (CSA) background
- Good knowledge of civil construction works including earthworks, foundations, concrete structures, drainage, roads, and associated infrastructure
- Experience working on substations, transmission and distribution projects, power infrastructure, or similar industrial developments is highly desirable
- Ability to identify, assess, and communicate construction and quality issues effectively
- Experience producing daily site reports and client-facing project updates
- Strong understanding of quality assurance and quality control processes during construction
- Experience coordinating with engineering teams and construction contractors
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong attention to detail and observational skills
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently on site
- Fluent English language skills are essential
- Must hold a valid EU Right to Work
- Available to start at short notice or ASAP
