About the Client
Our client is delivering a major pharmaceutical manufacturing project in Alzey, Germany and is looking for an experienced Turnover Instrumentation & Automation Engineer to support the completion, turnover and commissioning phases of the project.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-profile pharmaceutical facility and play a key role in ensuring systems are successfully handed over from construction into commissioning.
Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and self-dependent Turnover Instrumentation & Automation Engineer with strong site-based commissioning experience.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing turnover activities, coordinating subcontractors, carrying out walkdowns with the client, preparing documentation, driving punch-list closure and supporting commissioning readiness across assigned systems.
This role would suit someone who can work independently, take ownership of their area and proactively drive activities through to completion while maintaining strong communication with the wider project team.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate instrumentation and automation turnover activities across assigned systems
- Carry out and oversee loop checks, functional testing and commissioning support activities
- Conduct walkdowns with clients, subcontractors and commissioning teams
- Identify, track and close punch-list items
- Review and prepare turnover documentation including loop folders, calibration records and turnover packs
- Coordinate subcontractors to ensure works are completed safely and on schedule
- Support commissioning readiness reviews and final handover activities
- Verify installation quality and compliance with project requirements
- Assist with troubleshooting, interlock testing and system verification activities
- Provide regular progress updates and proactively resolve site issues
- Work closely with construction, commissioning and quality teams throughout the project lifecycle
Candidate Requirements
- Strong experience within Instrumentation, Automation, Turnover or Commissioning roles
- Proven experience performing loop checks, functional testing and commissioning activities
- Previous experience managing punch-list closeout activities
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience coordinating subcontractors on large industrial projects
- Good understanding of PLC, DCS and process control systems
- Experience preparing turnover and handover documentation
- Comfortable leading client walkdowns and completion activities onsite
- Pharmaceutical or biotechnology project experience is highly desirable
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Proactive attitude and team-player mentality
- English speaking
