Transport Planner – Cambridge

Our client is a well-established transport planning consultancy with an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality advice across residential, commercial, education, mixed-use, and strategic development projects. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Transport Planner to join their Cambridge office.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious planner looking to develop their career within a collaborative team, working on a diverse range of projects from initial feasibility through to planning applications and project delivery.
The Role
As a Transport Planner, you’ll be involved in the preparation and delivery of transport planning projects, working closely with clients, and multidisciplinary teams to provide practical and commercially focused transport solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
Preparing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans.
Assisting with transport strategies to support planning applications.
Undertaking junction capacity assessments and transport modelling.
Analysing traffic and transport data to inform development proposals.
Liaising with clients, local authorities and project stakeholders.
Supporting senior team members in project delivery and client management.
Producing high-quality technical reports and presentations.
Managing multiple projects while meeting deadlines and budgets.
About You
The successful candidate is likely to have:
A degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or a related discipline.
Around 2–5 years’ experience within transport planning or a similar consultancy environment.
Experience preparing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans.
Knowledge of UK planning policy and transport guidance.
Experience using software such as Junctions 10 (ARCADY/PICADY/LINSIG), TRICS and AutoCAD would be advantageous.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
A proactive attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A full UK driving licence is desirable.
