Trading Standards Officer
Brief Summary
Our local authority client based in Warwickshire is searching for a Trading Standards Officer to join their team. They are seeking a qualified professional to join on a contract basis for an initial 6-month period, with the possibility of extension. We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate current competency in one or more of the following areas: Product Safety, Legal Metrology, and Feed Hygiene.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out inspections of businesses and premises across Warwickshire.
- Investigate complaints and potential breaches of Trading Standards legislation.
- Provide advice and guidance to businesses regarding regulatory compliance.
- Undertake enforcement and compliance activities within your specialist area(s).
- Prepare reports, records and associated documentation to support investigations and inspections.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, partners and stakeholders to protect consumers and support legitimate businesses.
Required Experience
- Recognised Trading Standards qualification.
- Current competency in at least one of the following disciplines: Product Safety, Legal Metrology, or Feed Hygiene.
- Experience conducting inspections, investigations and regulatory compliance activities.
- Ability to deal effectively with complaints and enquiries from businesses and members of the public.
- Strong communication, organisational and report-writing skills.
- Full UK driving licence and ability to travel throughout Warwickshire for site visits.
Desirable
- Competency across more than one of the specified specialist areas.
- Previous local authority Trading Standards experience.
- Experience providing business advice and undertaking enforcement action.
