About the role
Our client is a local authority in Essex. They are looking for a TechOne Consultant to join them on a freelance basis, supporting the configuration, delivery and ongoing improvement of their TechnologyOne enterprise software across council services.
The successful candidate will work with finance, HR, property and wider business teams to understand requirements and turn them into effective system solutions. The role covers configuration, process design, testing, data work and user support, with a focus on making sure the platform supports how the council operates and reports.
This is a position for a consultant who is comfortable moving between technical detail and business conversations. It suits someone who can work independently within a public sector environment, explain solutions clearly to non-technical colleagues and keep delivery moving against agreed priorities and timelines.
Main responsibilities
- Configure, maintain and optimise TechnologyOne modules in line with business requirements
- Work with service teams to gather requirements and translate them into system solutions
- Design and document business processes, workflows and system configuration
- Support implementation, upgrade and change projects, including planning, testing and go-live activity
- Carry out data migration, cleansing and validation activity where required
- Develop and maintain reports, dashboards and management information
- Plan and run system testing and user acceptance testing, and manage defects through to resolution
- Provide training, guidance and ongoing support to system users
- Investigate and resolve system issues, liaising with the supplier where necessary
- Maintain accurate project and system documentation and report progress to stakeholders
Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience as a TechnologyOne consultant, analyst or similar role
- Hands-on experience configuring and supporting one or more TechnologyOne modules, such as Finance, HR and Payroll, Procurement or Property and Rating
- Experience gathering requirements and translating them into system configuration
- Experience supporting testing, implementation and change activity
- Good understanding of business processes within finance, HR or related areas
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Desirable
- Previous experience within a local authority or wider public sector setting
- Experience in reporting and analytics tools linked to TechnologyOne
- Experience with data migration and integration work
- Knowledge of relevant TechnologyOne certifications or training
- Experience delivering end user training
