Technical Lead (Maintenance) – 3-Month Contract (Extendable)

The Opportunity

Our client, a leading industrial pastry manufacturer supplying products to Carrefour, is looking for an experienced Technical Lead to oversee the maintenance function at their production facility.

This is a hands-on leadership role with a strong focus on supporting technicians on the production floor rather than desk-based management. The successful candidate will take ownership of the maintenance department, ensuring equipment reliability while providing technical guidance and leadership to the maintenance team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the site’s maintenance department.
• Provide technical support and guidance to a team of four maintenance technicians (two experienced and two requiring mentoring).
• Be a visible, hands-on presence on the production floor.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and mechanical breakdowns.
• Ensure maintenance activities are carried out in line with company procedures and safety protocols.
• Drive autonomous decision-making and take ownership of technical issues.
• Support continuous production across six automated production lines within four production areas.
• Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime and maximise equipment performance.

Production Environment

• Industrial food manufacturing facility.
• Production of fresh and frozen pastry products.
• Highly automated production environment.
• Six production lines across four production areas.
• PLC programming is handled externally, so extensive PLC programming experience is not required.
• Common maintenance issues include electrical faults, water-related equipment issues, and conveyor systems.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading maintenance teams within an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Strong hands-on electrical and mechanical maintenance background.
• Experience in food manufacturing or bakery/pastry production is highly desirable.
• Previous experience in a bakery production environment would be a significant advantage.
• Confident mentoring and supporting technicians.
• Able to work independently and take ownership of the maintenance function.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a practical approach.
• Dutch language skills are essential, with some French beneficial.
