Interim Finance Consultant (Freelance / Contract)
Focus: Operational Accounting & ERP (Odoo) Implementation Support
Overview
We are supporting a mid-sized international group undergoing an ERP transformation and are seeking an experienced interim finance consultant to provide both operational accounting support and contribute to the ongoing implementation of a new finance system (Odoo).
This is a temporary assignment driven by a combination of team transition and system implementation needs. The role is not intended to convert into a permanent position.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Finance (approx. 50–60%)
- Manage day-to-day transactional accounting activities
- Perform month-end close processes (A–Z ownership)
- Support financial reporting and reconciliations
- Ensure compliance with relevant local GAAP frameworks
- Assist with consolidation activities across multiple entities
ERP Implementation Support (approx. 40–50%)
- Support ongoing Odoo implementation across the group
- Assist with data clean-up, migration, and validation
- Contribute to process improvements and system optimisation
- Support onboarding of additional entities into the ERP
- Help fine-tune tools such as OCR and automation workflows
Profile Requirements
- Strong hands-on accounting experience (end-to-end / A–Z accounting)
- Solid experience with month-end close in multi-entity environments
- Familiarity with European GAAP frameworks (e.g. BE GAAP, NL GAAP or similar)
- Proven involvement in ERP implementations (ideally Odoo)
- Comfortable working in both operational and project-based roles
- Able to work autonomously in a dynamic environment
Nice to Have
- Experience with smaller entities and transitioning from external to in-house accounting
- Exposure to finance transformation or process improvement initiatives
- Multilingual (English required; additional European languages a plus)
Assignment Details
- Start: Ideally early August (flexibility to start part-time earlier)
- Duration: Approx. 6–12 months
- Location: Hybrid (initial on-site presence preferred, followed by flexibility)
- Engagement Type: Freelance / contract
- Workload: Full-time preferred, some flexibility possible
Context
The role arises due to a transition within the existing finance team combined with an ongoing ERP rollout. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining continuity in accounting operations while supporting the organisation through a critical phase of system implementation and process evolution.
