An independent national planning consultancy is seeking a Senior or Principal Town Planner to join its growing team. The consultancy delivers planning solutions across the UK and is committed to providing a collaborative, supportive, and flexible working environment that enables professional growth and career progression.
Due to an expanding workload and a strong pipeline of projects, the successful candidate will work across a broad range of sectors including residential, education, retail, energy, sport and leisure, healthcare, commercial, and mixed-use development. Clients include major developers, contractors, educational institutions, and sporting organisations.
The team has a strong track record of securing planning permissions for large-scale and complex schemes, including residential-led regeneration projects, educational facilities, sports developments, and mixed-use schemes. The role offers the opportunity to work on projects nationwide while contributing to the continued growth of the team.
Flexible working arrangements are available, including a combination of home and office working. The successful candidate will receive support from experienced senior colleagues and have access to structured mentoring and professional development opportunities, including support towards chartership where applicable.

Key Requirements
- RTPI-accredited degree or equivalent relevant qualification
- MRTPI qualified or working towards submission within the next six months
- Experience across a range of planning sectors
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good understanding of the UK planning system
- Experience preparing and managing planning applications
- Commercial awareness
- Proficient in Microsoft 365
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior colleagues
- Collaborative approach and ability to contribute to team growth
Desirable Experience
- Experience working on projects within northern England
