Role Overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced Progress OpenEdge Developer to support the maintenance, modernization, and enhancement of several business-critical applications.
In this role, you will work within a hybrid technology environment that combines traditional Progress ABL development with modern API-driven architectures. You will collaborate closely with business analysts, project managers, and fellow technical specialists to deliver robust and scalable solutions that support key operational processes.
This position offers the opportunity to work on both legacy modernization initiatives and the development of new integrations and services.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop, maintain, and enhance applications using Progress OpenEdge ABL.
· Design, optimize, and maintain database structures and data access within OpenEdge.
· Build, expose, and maintain APIs using modern OpenEdge technologies.
· Analyze application performance and implement improvements related to queries, transactions, and locking mechanisms.
· Support the integration of internal applications with third-party systems and services.
· Participate in technical analysis, solution design, testing, and deployment activities.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality software delivery.
· Contribute to modernization initiatives and best practice adoption within the development team.
Candidate Requirements:
· Strong hands-on experience with Progress OpenEdge and ABL development.
· Solid understanding of:
- Temp-Tables
- ProDatasets
- Buffers
- Transactions and record locking strategies
- OpenEdge database architecture
· Experience designing and optimizing database performance.
· Knowledge of API development and integration concepts.
· Experience with PASOE (Progress Application Server for OpenEdge).
· Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and optimize existing applications.
