Role Overview:
Our client, a leading organisation within the energy sector, is looking for an experienced Freelance Product Owner to support the development and implementation of a new Contract Regulation Tool. This strategic initiative aims to improve the management, compliance, and governance of customer and commercial contracts across the organisation.
As Product Owner, you will act as the key link between business stakeholders and IT delivery teams, ensuring that business requirements are clearly understood, prioritised, and translated into effective technical solutions. You will play a critical role in driving the product vision, managing the product backlog, and ensuring successful delivery of business value.
Key Responsibilities:
· Serve as the primary point of contact between business departments and IT teams for the Contract Regulation Tool.
· Gather, analyse, and challenge business requirements from various stakeholders.
· Define and communicate the product vision, roadmap, and priorities.
· Translate business needs into detailed user stories and functional requirements.
· Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring priorities align with business objectives.
· Work closely with developers, architects, analysts, and project managers throughout the development lifecycle.
· Facilitate workshops and stakeholder meetings to clarify requirements and validate solutions.
· Support sprint planning, backlog refinement, and acceptance testing activities.
· Monitor product performance and gather user feedback to drive continuous improvement.
· Ensure regulatory, compliance, and governance requirements are incorporated into the solution.
· Coordinate user acceptance testing and support business adoption of the new platform.
· Act as a trusted advisor to both business and technical stakeholders.
Candidate Requirements:
· Proven experience as a Product Owner, Functional Analyst, Business Analyst, or similar role within complex enterprise environments.
· Strong experience acting as the bridge between business stakeholders and IT delivery teams.
· Experience managing software development projects using Agile/Scrum methodologies.
· Strong backlog management and requirements gathering skills.
· Experience writing user stories, defining acceptance criteria, and managing product roadmaps.
· Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
· Ability to translate complex business processes into clear functional requirements.
· Experience working on regulatory, compliance, contract management, or process optimisation projects is highly desirable.
· Experience within the energy, utilities, or highly regulated sectors is considered a strong advantage.
