Freelance Process Engineer (12-Month Contract)
We are seeking an experienced Process Engineer to support the delivery of a major brownfield expansion project involving the construction of a new granulation unit. This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-impact engineering project and work with a multidisciplinary team on the design and development of process systems.
Position Details

- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Location: Hybrid – Office located near Leipzig, Germany
- Working Arrangement: Ideally office-based throughout September. A minimum of the first 1–2 weeks on-site is required, after which the role can be performed primarily remotely.
Project
You will play a key role in the engineering and design of a new granulation unit as part of a brownfield site expansion. The role will involve developing process documentation, collaborating with engineering disciplines, and supporting the successful execution of the project.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop process engineering deliverables for the granulation unit project.
- Create Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) from scratch.
- Produce and maintain accurate process documentation.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure design integration.
- Support design reviews and incorporate technical feedback.
- Ensure engineering deliverables comply with project specifications and applicable standards.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Process Engineer on industrial or process plant projects.
- Demonstrated ability to create P&IDs from scratch.
- Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Plant 3D.
- Experience working on brownfield projects is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of process engineering principles and plant design.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Languages
- Fluent German and English (written and spoken).
