Principal Planning Consultant

Our client is seeking a Principal Planning Consultant to join our team.  This is an exciting opportunity to apply your technical expertise on a diverse range of projects across the minerals, waste and environmental sectors. If you thrive on working in a fast paced environment and want to work closely with other experienced consultants on technically demanding projects, this role is for you.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to the Technical Director of Planning.
  • Lead and contribute to a range of planning and environmental projects
  • Effectively manage all stages of project delivery including management of internal and external technical specialists.
  • Management of multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Provide clear, practical advice to clients and colleagues on UK planning policy and environmental legislation.
  • Manage and coordinate Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and the preparation of Environmental Statements.
  • Oversee the delivery of planning and Development Consent Order (DCO) applications.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, regulators and stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes.
  • Support the development of new business opportunities and help strengthen client relationships.

Skills and experience

  • You will have previous experience in minerals and waste planning.
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant Planning legislation.
  • Experience in renewable energy projects would be an advantage.
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills.
  • Computer literacy and adaptability to new technologies.
  • Confident in managing projects, budgets and people, with a focus on delivering results.

Qualifications

  • Degree BSc  in planning or a related subject.
  • Membership of a professional body such as the RTPI, CIWM or ISEP.
  • Full UK driving licence.
