Plant Manager (Interim Contract)

Location: Hasselt, Belgium
Contract: 2–3 Year Fixed-Term Contract

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Plant Manager to lead a large-scale concrete manufacturing facility. This is a key leadership role overseeing a 150-person operation responsible for producing approximately 300,000 tonnes of concrete annually across 8 production halls, combining both manual and automated production processes.

This assignment is ideal for an operational leader with a strong background in heavy manufacturing who can drive operational excellence, product quality, safety, and continuous improvement within a high-volume production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of a 150-person manufacturing facility.

  • Ensure safe, efficient and cost-effective production across 8 production halls.

  • Drive product quality and ensure all concrete products meet customer and regulatory standards.

  • Maximise production performance, plant efficiency and overall equipment effectiveness.

  • Develop and implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance with ISO standards and all Health, Safety and Environmental regulations.

  • Manage production planning, maintenance coordination and operational resources.

  • Lead, coach and develop production managers, supervisors and operational teams.

  • Monitor KPIs and implement corrective actions to improve productivity, quality and operational performance.

  • Work closely with engineering, maintenance, quality and supply chain teams to achieve business objectives.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience as a Plant Manager, Operations Manager or Manufacturing Manager within heavy industry.

  • Experience in the concrete, cement, construction materials, precast or related manufacturing sectors is highly desirable.

  • Strong leadership experience managing large manufacturing teams (100+ employees preferred).

  • Experience managing both automated and manual production environments.

  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement methodologies.

  • Experience working within ISO-certified manufacturing environments.

  • Excellent operational, commercial and people management skills.

  • Strong focus on quality, safety and performance improvement.

  • Fluent English is essential. Dutch and/or French would be advantageous.
