Interim Business Controller (Part-Time)
Location: Limburg, Belgium (Hybrid)
Start Date: ASAP (ideally 1 July)
Contract: Interim/Freelance Assignment
Duration: Initial 3–4 months, with potential extension until year-end
Work Schedule: 4 days per week
On-site Requirement: 2 days per week (Wednesday and Thursday), 2 days remote
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Business Controller to support the finance function during a period of strategic transformation and growth.
This role will focus on the day-to-day business controlling activities, enabling the existing team to concentrate on upcoming strategic projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in budgeting, forecasting, performance monitoring, and business partnering, while challenging stakeholders and providing valuable financial insights to support decision-making.
This is a hands-on position requiring strong analytical capabilities, excellent communication skills, and the confidence to engage with and challenge business leaders when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Prepare rolling forecasts and monitor business performance against targets.
- Deliver financial analysis and actionable insights to support decision-making.
- Act as a business partner to operational stakeholders, providing financial guidance and challenge where appropriate.
- Support monthly performance reviews and reporting activities.
- Identify risks, opportunities, and areas for performance improvement.
- Ensure financial data is accurate, timely, and relevant for management reporting.
- Collaborate closely with finance and business teams to drive operational efficiency.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience as a Business Controller.
- Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, and rolling forecast processes.
- Experience in financial planning, analysis, and business partnering.
- Excellent Excel skills are essential.
- Experience with Power BI is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to challenge the business constructively.
- Dutch native speaker.
- Professional working proficiency in English.
- Proactive, hands-on, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Available to start immediately and commit to a part-time assignment of 4 days per week.
