Mechanical Engineer

Local Authority | 6-Month Contract | £30–£40 per hour

We are currently working with a Local Authority seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their Property team to work on their commercial/corporate portfolio on an initial 6-month contract.

This is an excellent opportunity to support the delivery of mechanical engineering projects across a diverse property portfolio, including public buildings, offices, leisure facilities, and other council-owned assets.

The Role
As Mechanical Engineer, you will provide technical expertise across a range of building services projects, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and industry standards.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing and delivering mechanical building services projects from design through to completion.

• Producing and reviewing specifications, drawings, reports, and technical documentation.

• Overseeing contractors and consultants to ensure quality, safety, and performance standards are met.

• Supporting planned maintenance, refurbishment, and capital works programmes.

• Conducting site inspections, condition surveys, and project monitoring.

• Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, including Health & Safety and Building Regulations.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (desirable).

• Experience working on building services/mechanical engineering projects.

• Knowledge of HVAC, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and mechanical plant systems.

• Experience within Local Government, Public Sector, NHS, Education, or similar environments is advantageous.

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
