Job Title: Logistics Team Lead
Location: Gent, Belgium (3 days per week onsite, 2 remote).
Normal Working Schedule: Ideally full time (5 days per week) but can also be part time (3 days per week).
Project: Optimisation of logistics systems for cost reduction and standardisation (route planner systems, OSM etc..)

About the Client:
Our client is a large multinational company who support a variety of customers for usage of their labs for testing, sampling etc..
Role Overview:
We are urgently seeking a Logistics Team Leader to manage the logistics team, deep-dive into the existing environment to optimise it, standardise and look for cost reduction and efficiency boosts throughout logistics optimisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Join as the team lead of the logistics team (made up of transport/logistics planners, 20 drivers etc..) taking the lead and managing the team. The logistics team you will lead involved 3 sites across Belgium, and 3 areas for logistics (pick-ups, sampling and deliveries) for a large client who perform lab tests and samplings for their clients in Belgium across industries such as pharmaceuticals, food etc..
- There is currently a poor structure and non-standard ways of working as a result of a failed project, the idea is to bring the team together with good management skills, standardising procedures and bringing the basics back to create structure within the logistics team, organisation, digitalisation and optimisation of existing systems to boost efficiency and reduce costs.
- On top of management, deep-dive into the data and existing environment, discussing with the logistics teams and surrounding teams (such as the Quality department of labs) to understand what is needed and identify solutions (such as splitting pick-ups, sampling and deliveries into 3 separate functions working together, or changing suitable times for each area to improve logistics (e.g., pick-ups only between 07:30-14:00) for how to achieve & optimise this. Identifying areas of improvement with existing logistics systems, inefficiencies and provide different solutions with the aim or optimising and reducing costs.
- Perform cost/benefit analysis of your solutions and presenting to board level before implementing these changes and performing change management, trainings, workshops etc.. using strong communication skills to get everyone onside with the changes.
- Working closely with the route planners and surrounding stakeholders (such as the quality specialists and lab teams to identify estimated length of time for sampling, cleaning time etc..) to optimise the logistics.
- Once the basics are back in place, look at further optimisation capabilities and lead a project such as improving the OSM (onfield site management) systems. Further identifying priority customers to increase cost efficiencies and profits, how best to connect the needs of clients with the labs etc.. to reduce costs and maximise profits.
- Streamline and standardise processes, take control of the team and manage the people, all with the aim of process optimisation, optimisation of existing systems, identifying digitalisation capabilities and improve efficiency to reduce costs.
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience within logistics.
- Experience in management.
- Good knowledge of route planning systems (ideally Movetex planning system).
- Dutch speaking.

Location: Gent, Belgium
Remote working: up to 2 days working from home per week.
Normal working schedule: Either full time (5 days per week), or part-time (minimum 3 days per week).
Duration: 6 Months +
Rate type: All-inclusive Hourly/Daily Rate.
