Our client is focussed on Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical research across Europe.
Role Overview:
We are urgently seeking a logistics planner (or someone who can step in ASAP to do the role, with good problem solving skills and a hands-on mentality) to join for a maternity leave cover, and both reactively and proactively plan driving routes for 15x drivers across Belgium and the Netherlands.
Key Responsibilities:
- Join the client as a logistics planner, co-ordinating driving routes, timings and any amends for 15x drivers to and from labs across Belgium and the Netherlands.
- This is a very hands-on role that required you to plan for future routes/orders in a pro-active way, as well as reactive planning (ad-hoc to new requests, changes, issues/incidents etc..) for same day which requires good problem solving skills and someone who is hands-on.
- The client are mid-way through a standardisation of processes and an ERP migration. As a result, there is no process procedure at the moment and all is done on Excel whilst they move to a new in-house ERP system. Which means you will have to be flexible to changes, but also someone who enjoys differing issues daily and looks for solutions! You will get freedom as a result and work closely with the logistics manager as a “right hand”.
- The new tasks (reactive planning) can come in emails, phone calls, incidents etc.. which change or quickly require drivers in certain locations at certain times which you will need to organise the drivers to adapt to new requests/changes which requires a lot of problem solving to plan the routes quickly, around schedules and current locations of drivers who go to and from various facilities across Belgium and the Netherlands.
- As these tasks can be sporadic, your days will change and it’s almost ad-hoc the reactive tasks. Some days will be dealing with these tasks and planning routes, some days will be looking at longer-term planning (most days a level of both) but you will also be expected to work in a continuous improvement looking at how to improve any of these processes & optimise procedure! Ensuring a wide-ranged position with changes to tasks daily.
- The main purpose of your role is to organise the 15x drivers and ensure they get to the right place at the right time, by receiving the “tasks”/requests and planning their routes from A to Z.
- As the drivers will only be driving in Belgium and the Netherlands, all customs etc.. is taken of, and you will only need to worry about planning the drivers routes to ensure they are in the right place at the right time by planning their routes according to current situation, upcoming situation, changes in plans etc..
Candidate Requirements:
- Someone who has a hands on, organised, problem solving and solution oriented mindset.
- Ideally experienced in logistics planning (or similar) but this isn’t a hard requirement.
- Fluent Dutch.
