Locum Civil & Criminal Litigation Lawyer
Confidential Local Authority – South East
Initial 3–6 Month Contract | Hybrid Working
Vivid Resourcing are currently working with a local authority in the South East who are seeking a Locum Civil & Criminal Litigation Lawyer to join their legal services team on an interim basis.
This is a great opportunity for a newly qualified or junior lawyer looking to gain hands-on experience within a local authority setting, including court attendance and advocacy, as well as more experienced locums seeking a varied litigation caseload.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting with and managing a caseload of civil and criminal litigation matters
- Conducting advocacy and attending court hearings where required
- Supporting on prosecutions, regulatory and enforcement work
- Advising internal departments on litigation-related issues
- Drafting legal documents including pleadings, witness statements and notices
- Liaising with counsel, courts and external parties as required
- Supporting senior lawyers within the team where necessary
Requirements:
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive in England & Wales (NQ candidates encouraged to apply)
- Interest or experience in litigation, prosecution or enforcement work
- Confidence or willingness to undertake court advocacy
- Strong organisational skills and willingness to learn
- Ability to manage a caseload with appropriate supervision
- Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Contract Details:
- Competitive hourly rate (dependent on experience)
- Hybrid working available
- Initial 3–6 month contract with potential for extension
- Flexible start date
