Licensing Officer (Contract) – Surrey

We are currently supporting a Surrey-based local authority in recruiting an experienced Licensing Officer for an initial 3-month contract, with the potential for extension.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy team during a period of change, providing essential support across licensing functions.
Key Details
- Contract Length: Initial 3 months (with break clause)
- Hours: 21–24 hours per week (flexible depending on rate)
- Working Pattern: 2 days in the office, 1 day remote
- Location: Surrey
Key Responsibilities
- Processing and assessing applications under the Licensing Act 2003
- Conducting inspections and site visits
- Managing taxi licensing cases, including vehicle inspections
- Engaging with licence holders and ensuring regulatory compliance
Requirements
- Proven experience working within a local authority licensing team
- Strong working knowledge of the Licensing Act 2003
- Experience in taxi licensing (essential)
- Ability to carry out inspections independently
- Access to a vehicle and willingness to travel for site visits
- Experience using Uniform software
Please note: Candidates with only Transport for London (TFL) experience will not be considered, due to differing legislation and responsibilities.
