IT First Line Support Engineer (Freelance) – Munich, Germany

About the role
Our client is an international organisation with offices in Munich and Eching, and is looking for a First Line Support Engineer to join its EMEA IT team. The role supports around 65 employees across both locations and is the first point of contact for day-to-day IT needs.
The work covers first-line support, end-user equipment, Microsoft 365 administration and IT asset management. You will set up and look after Windows 11 computers and printers, manage user accounts and access rights, and keep the inventory of IT equipment and applications up to date.
You will work closely with the central IT team and coordinate with external IT service providers, including on IT security settings and access rights. The role is on-site five days a week, so it suits someone who enjoys being visible and helpful to colleagues in the office, and who is happy to split their time across both sites.
Main responsibilities
- Provide first-line IT support to employees in the Munich and Eching offices
- Install, configure and manage Windows 11 computers and printers
- Manage user accounts, mailboxes, groups and access rights in Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft 365
- Maintain the inventory of IT equipment and applications
- Manage IT security settings and access rights in cooperation with the central IT team
- Identify IT security issues and coordinate their resolution with the central IT team
- Coordinate with external IT service providers where needed
Requirements
Essential
- Minimum 3 years of experience in an IT support or helpdesk role
- Experience installing and managing Windows 11 computers
- Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, including user accounts and security groups
- Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken
