Interim Assistant Director of Finance (Deputy S151)

Rate: £750-£850 per day

The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Assistant Director of Finance / Deputy S151 Officer to support a local authority in Essex on an interim basis.
This is a senior finance position requiring someone with previous Deputy S151 experience and a strong understanding of local government finance. You’ll play a key role in supporting financial leadership, providing strategic advice and helping ensure strong financial management across the organisation.
About You
We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Previous experience working as a Deputy S151 Officer within local government.
- Strong knowledge of local authority finance and financial governance.
- Experience operating at a senior strategic level and advising key stakeholders.
- The ability to provide clear financial insight and challenge where required.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The confidence to work independently and take ownership in a senior interim position.
- Availability to work 3 days per week on site in Essex.
