About the Client

Our client is delivering a major, long-term infrastructure project in Antwerp, involving associated mechanical and electrical installations.

The overall project is expected to run for approximately 10 years and requires experienced HSE professionals to support the safe execution of complex construction and installation activities.


Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced HSE Supervisor to join the project team on site in Antwerp, with a particular focus on the electrical and mechanical installation works associated with the wider road construction project.

You will be responsible for monitoring site activities, supporting contractors and construction teams, and ensuring that works are carried out in accordance with project HSE requirements, procedures, and applicable regulations.

This is a full-time site-based position, 5 days per week, initially offered on a 12-month contract, with the opportunity to continue on a major infrastructure programme expected to run for approximately 10 years.


Key Responsibilities

Join the project team as HSE Supervisor, supporting the safe delivery of mechanical, electrical, and associated construction activities across the project.

  • Provide day-to-day HSE supervision on site, with particular focus on mechanical and electrical installation activities

  • Monitor contractors and subcontractors to ensure compliance with project HSE procedures and applicable legislation

  • Conduct regular site inspections, safety walks, audits, and observations

  • Identify unsafe conditions, behaviours, and working practices and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented

  • Review and monitor risk assessments, method statements, permits to work, and other HSE documentation

  • Support safe execution of electrical and mechanical installation works, including interfaces with wider road and civil construction activities

  • Monitor high-risk activities and ensure appropriate controls and permit requirements are in place

  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, inductions, and HSE meetings

  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions and support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions

  • Coordinate closely with construction management, contractors, engineering teams, and other HSE personnel

  • Monitor contractor HSE performance and escalate significant issues where required

  • Maintain accurate HSE records, inspection reports, observations, and follow-up actions

  • Promote a strong safety culture across the project and encourage proactive reporting and intervention

  • Ensure mechanical and electrical installation activities are completed in accordance with project safety standards and site requirements


Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years of professional HSE experience within construction, infrastructure, industrial, or comparable project environments

  • Previous experience working as an HSE Supervisor, Safety Supervisor, HSE Advisor, or similar site-based position

  • Experience supporting mechanical and electrical installation works within a construction environment

  • Experience on major infrastructure, road construction, industrial, or other large-scale construction projects is highly desirable

  • Strong understanding of construction HSE practices, risk assessments, method statements, permit-to-work systems, and site inspections

  • Ability to identify hazards and challenge unsafe working practices confidently and professionally

  • Experience working with contractors, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary construction teams

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering

  • Strong communication, coordination, and reporting skills

  • Fluent Dutch speaker

  • Able to work effectively within an international and multidisciplinary project environment

  • Available to work 5 days per week on site in Antwerp

  • Available to start ASAP
