Housing Options Officer
Location: Hertfordshire (Hybrid – 2 days per week in the office)
Contract: 3 Months Initially
Rate: £27–£29 per hour (Umbrella)
Start Date: ASAP
A Local Authority in Hertfordshire is looking to appoint an experienced Housing Options Officer to join their busy Housing Needs team on an initial 3-month contract, with an excellent chance of extension.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive team dealing with a varied caseload and making a real difference to residents facing homelessness.
Key Responsibilities
Managing a caseload of homelessness applications in line with the Housing Act 1996 (as amended by the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017).
Conducting detailed housing needs assessments and producing Personalised Housing Plans (PHPs).
Making statutory decisions, including Section 184 decisions.
Working proactively to prevent and relieve homelessness.
Liaising with internal departments and external agencies to secure positive outcomes for applicants.
Providing high-quality housing advice and ensuring compliance with current homelessness legislation.
Requirements
A minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a Housing Options Officer within a Local Authority.
Strong working knowledge of homelessness legislation and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
Proven experience completing Section 184 decisions and managing complex homelessness cases.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
Excellent communication and case management skills.
