Freelance ILS Manager – Integrated Logistics Support | Defence Logistics | Remote Contract
A leading defence organisation is seeking an experienced Freelance ILS Manager (Integrated Logistics Support Manager) to support a complex land-based defence systems programme on a remote basis. This 6-month contract offers an excellent opportunity for a specialist in defence logistics, Integrated Product Support (IPS), and Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) to provide technical leadership across a high-profile international programme.
Working at 50% capacity (approximately 20 hours per week), the successful ILS Manager will lead and coordinate Integrated Logistics Support activities, develop lifecycle support strategies, and provide expert guidance across engineering, programme management, product teams, suppliers and customers.
Key responsibilities include managing ILS and IPS deliverables, developing Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) concepts, supporting Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) activities, optimising spare parts provisioning, defining maintenance concepts, and contributing technical expertise to acquisition and bid activities.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience delivering ILS, IPS, LSA and LSAR activities within the defence sector, with knowledge of relevant defence logistics standards including MIL-STD-1388-2A/2B, ASD specifications, S1000D and S2000M. Experience supporting military or land systems programmes is highly desirable.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience as an ILS Manager, Integrated Logistics Support Engineer, IPS Specialist or Defence Logistics Consultant.
- Strong knowledge of ILS, IPS, LSA methodologies and lifecycle support processes.
- Experience working on complex defence or military programmes.
- Understanding of maintenance concepts, provisioning, obsolescence management and technical documentation.
- Degree in Engineering, Logistics, Systems Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Fluent German and professional English communication skills.
- Strong stakeholder management and customer-facing experience.
