About the Opportunity
We are looking for a detail-oriented Cost Assurance Expert to join a major long-term project based in Antwerp. This role is particularly suited to professionals with a strong audit background who enjoy ensuring compliance, validating financial processes, and providing independent assurance across project expenditures.
You will play a key role in reviewing project costs, verifying supporting evidence, challenging processes where necessary, and ensuring all financial activities align with internal procedures and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed cost assurance reviews across project-related expenditures.
- Verify invoices, timesheets, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Review and validate costs associated with onsite and office-based personnel.
- Ensure all claims and costs are supported by appropriate evidence and documentation.
- Work closely with project teams and stakeholders to verify adherence to established procedures.
- Conduct follow-ups with colleagues, suppliers, and project stakeholders regarding outstanding documentation or discrepancies.
- Challenge and assess financial processes to identify risks, control weaknesses, or inconsistencies.
- Support ongoing compliance reviews and provide assurance over project spending.
- Maintain accurate records of findings, recommendations, and corrective actions.
- Prepare clear audit trails and supporting documentation for management review.
Candidate Profile
Essential Requirements
- 1-5 years of professional experience within Audit, External Audit, Internal Audit, Cost Assurance, Financial Control, or a similar discipline.
- Strong auditing mindset with the ability to critically assess supporting evidence and financial documentation.
- Experience reviewing invoices, timesheets, expense claims, and project-related costs.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Fluent Dutch speaker.
- Ability to work onsite in Antwerp 4 days per week.
