A leading specialist fire engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Principal Fire Engineer to join its growing team based in Central London. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically accomplished Principal Fire Engineer to work on complex high-rise, residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments across the UK.
The successful Principal Fire Engineer will become part of an established team delivering fire engineering, fire strategy, and building safety consultancy services to major developers, housing associations, and multidisciplinary design teams. This role is offered on a 12-month contract, with a competitive day rate of £300–£500(outside IR35) per day, depending on experience.
The Principal Fire Engineer Role
As a Principal Fire Engineer, you will lead the delivery of complex fire engineering projects across a diverse portfolio of sectors, providing expert technical advice throughout the planning, design, and construction lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
- Producing, reviewing, and approving fire strategy reports.
- Providing expert guidance on Building Regulations and Building Safety Act compliance.
- Supporting Gateway submissions for Higher-Risk Buildings (HRBs).
- Leading client meetings and coordinating with multidisciplinary design teams.
- Mentoring and supporting Graduate and Senior Fire Engineers.
- Reviewing smoke control, means of escape, and evacuation strategies.
- Advising on external wall systems, façade fire safety, and regulatory compliance.
