Freelance Finance Manager / Business Controller
Location: Genk (Belgium)
Contract: Freelance (6–12 months)

On-site: 5 days per week (initially), more flexibility after initial period
Context
We are looking for a Finance Manager / Business Controller who wants to step out of a pure advisory role and own the numbers, the decisions, and the impact.
This is a hands-on business role, not a reporting position. You will work directly with the CEO, act as the right hand to a non-local CFO, and play a key role in driving growth, strategy, and performance.
Your Role (Summary)
You will lead the finance function end-to-end while acting as a true business partner to the CEO and management team.
Key Responsibilities
Finance & Accounting
- End-to-end responsibility for finance operations
- Monthly, quarterly & year-end closings
- Coordination with external auditors and advisors
- Ensure compliance, accuracy, and financial governance
Business Controlling
- Budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
- Development and ownership of KPIs and management reporting
- Financial and operational analyses to support decision-making
- Translating numbers into actionable business insights
Leadership & Management
- Managing and coaching a finance team of 5 FTE
- Setting structure, priorities, and accountability
- Acting as escalation point and decision-maker
Strategic Partnership
- Sparring partner to the CEO and management team
- Right hand to the CFO (remote) with high level of independence
- Support growth initiatives, investments, and performance improvement
Optimization & Build
- Improve and professionalize finance processes and tools
- Build scalable structures to support growth
- Drive efficiency and transparency across the business
Who You Are
- 4–8 years of relevant experience
- Strong in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting
- Comfortable managing teams and stakeholders
- Confident communicator who can challenge and influence senior management
Languages
- Dutch, French and English
Practical Details
- Contract: Freelance (6–12 months)
- Presence: 5 days on-site in Genk (especially during the initial phase)
