We are seeking a Finance Manager for 6 months at a medium sized housing association based in Scotland. The Finance Manager will be responsible for providing a high quality, timely, comprehensive financial management accounting service to all budget holders and departments within the housing association.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced manager with a proven ability to cultivate a high-performing team and enhance operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the finance function across the Housing Association, ensuring the timely and effective delivery of all financial services and processes.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams to drive results, offering strategic advice, guidance, and hands-on solutions to financial challenges.
- Partner with budget holders to support informed decision-making, monitor financial performance, and take proactive corrective actions to keep spending in line with budgets.
- Manage the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficient service delivery across all financial transactions.
- Oversee the preparation of statutory accounts in accordance with regulatory requirements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Lead the preparation and coordination of the annual budget process, working with key stakeholders to align financial targets with organisational goals.
- Provide financial insights and reporting to senior management, enabling data-driven decisions and strategic planning.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, internal controls, and reporting standards to maintain organisational integrity and transparency.
About the Candidate:
- Able to provide leadership to the Housing Finance Team and delivering excellence through a performance driven and customer focused culture
- Ensure the effective and accurate recording of our day-to-day financial transactions with respect to Housing operations
- To produce management accounts and related information in relation to Housing.
- Ensure Housing income is complete and accurate
- Ensure the accuracy of expenditure coding and making correcting entries where necessary
- Work with Housing colleagues to ensure that debt collection issues are identified and resolved to enable cash collection
Qualifications Required:
- Qualified accountant (e.g ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA)
- 2+ years in social housing.
- Proficiency in accounting and finance software such as SAGE, SunSystems, SAP, or similar systems used by housing associations.
- Solid understanding of UK financial regulations, tax laws, and accounting standards (e.g., FRS 102, UK GAAP).
