Freelance Embedded Software & Verification Engineer (Contract)

We are looking for a freelance engineer to support the development and verification of embedded software for a highly regulated technology program. The role combines hands-on software development with verification and testing activities in a safety-focused environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop embedded software and supporting tools using C and Python.
- Design and execute software verification activities, including test development and reporting.
- Debug and troubleshoot software on target hardware in a laboratory environment.
- Support requirements traceability, documentation, and certification-related activities.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
Required Experience
- Strong embedded software development experience.
- Experinece in Flight Control
- Experience working with microcontroller-based systems.
- Comfortable with hardware-level debugging and testing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Well-organised, dependable, and able to work independently.
Desirable Experience
- Exposure to safety-critical software development and verification.
- Familiarity with standards such as DO-178C or similar regulated development processes.
- Experience with requirements management and configuration management tools (e.g. DOORS, RV&S, Jira, Git, SVN).
- Knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink.
- Experience with TI TMS570 or NXP MPC57xx platforms is beneficial.
Working Arrangement
- Hybrid role based near Frankfurt.
- Initial onsite onboarding required.
