For an industrial automation customer, we are looking for an experienced freelance Electrical Project Lead to support projects for two Food & Beverage project teams in the Leuven area.
The role will focus on the coordination and delivery of multiple smaller electrical projects within existing production environments. Projects are primarily brownfield and process-related, with typical electrical project values of approximately €100k–€200k.
You will take responsibility for projects from planning through execution, acting as the link between the customer, engineering teams, suppliers and contractors.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate electrical projects within operational Food & Beverage production environments
- Manage projects with a typical electrical scope of €100k–€200k
- Coordinate project planning, execution and follow-up
- Communicate directly with customers regarding project schedules, production shutdowns and site activities
- Coordinate electrical works around planned shutdown windows to minimise disruption to production
- Manage and monitor project budgets
- Specify and coordinate the purchasing/order of electrical materials required for projects
- Coordinate suppliers, contractors and other project stakeholders
- Provide partial site management and supervision during project execution
- Monitor installation progress, quality, safety and compliance
- Resolve technical and practical issues arising during installation
- Coordinate commissioning and project handover where required
- Ensure electrical installations comply with applicable electrical and Food & Beverage industry standards
Profile
- Experienced Electrical Engineer, Electrical Project Engineer or Electrical Project Lead with a strong industrial background
- Solid experience with Low Voltage (LV) industrial electrical installations
- Experience delivering electrical projects within brownfield / existing production environments
- Good understanding of industrial electrical systems, installations and materials
- Experience coordinating electrical contractors and supervising works on site
- Comfortable managing project schedules, budgets, materials and suppliers
- Able to communicate directly with customers and coordinate work around production requirements and shutdowns
- Familiar with applicable electrical standards and the requirements of Food & Beverage production environments
- Strong organisational and stakeholder-management skills
- Able to manage several smaller projects and priorities simultaneously
Preferred Experience (Bonus not mandatory)
- Experience within Food & Beverage, FMCG, pharmaceutical or another process manufacturing environment would be highly valuable.
- Knowledge of hygienic production environments and the specific requirements associated with electrical installations in Food & Beverage facilities would be an advantage.
- The ideal candidate combines strong electrical knowledge with practical project leadership and is comfortable moving between customer discussions, project planning and hands-on site coordination.
