Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Driver Supervisor to take ownership of the day-to-day management, support and development of a professional truck driver population within a leading transport and logistics company operating across West and East Flanders.
This is a senior, hands-on role where you will act as the key link between the drivers and the wider transport organisation. You will build strong relationships with drivers, address operational and personnel-related issues, and ensure that standards around safety, performance and compliance are maintained.
You will be responsible for supporting drivers throughout their entire journey with the organisation — from recruitment and onboarding through to coaching, performance management and, where necessary, offboarding.
The role combines people management, driver supervision, transport operations and administration, making it particularly suited to someone with previous experience managing or supervising professional drivers.
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day supervision and support of truck drivers.
- Act as the main point of contact for drivers, dealing with questions, concerns, complaints and operational issues.
- Recruit new truck drivers, including CV screening, interviews and theoretical/practical assessments.
- Coach and guide drivers throughout their employment, with a strong focus on performance, safety, behaviour and retention.
- Monitor driver performance and identify opportunities for improvement through driving analyses and operational data.
- Address driver-related performance or conduct issues, including formal warnings and escalation where required.
- Maintain strong relationships with drivers and act as a trusted point of contact between drivers and management.
- Support administrative processes surrounding drivers, including working hours, holidays, absences and payroll preparation.
- Coordinate the administration of incidents, including vehicle damage, insurance cases and workplace accidents.
- Monitor and support initiatives relating to fuel consumption, safety, driving behaviour and driver performance.
- Maintain accurate driver records and ensure relevant information is correctly processed in internal systems.
- Support the management and administration of fuel cards and other driver-related resources.
- Work closely with Transport Management, HR and other internal stakeholders to resolve issues and improve driver engagement.
- Contribute to continuous improvement projects relating to the driver population and wider transport operation.
- Work with TAS/Transfix TMS platforms to monitor transport operations, driver activity and performance.
- Use TMS data to support driver planning, performance monitoring, working-time checks and operational reporting.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a senior and confident people manager who understands the realities of working with professional truck drivers.
You will ideally have:
- Several years’ experience in driver supervision, fleet management, transport management or a similar role.
- Experience managing, coaching or coordinating professional truck drivers.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with drivers while maintaining clear professional boundaries.
- The confidence to deal with difficult conversations, performance issues and disciplinary situations.
- A practical, hands-on approach combined with strong administrative skills.
- Experience with driver performance, working-time records, transport compliance or fleet administration.
- Experience with TAS/Transfix or another TMS.
- Strong digital skills and the ability to work with transport data and operational systems.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple issues simultaneously.
- Good knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
