Freelance Cybersecurity Review Expert (Remote | 6 Months | Hamburg, Germany)

We are supporting a leading engineering and industrial technology client in their search for a Cybersecurity Review Expert to support ongoing product cybersecurity and compliance activities.

Role Overview

The successful consultant will act as a subject matter expert, reviewing cybersecurity concepts, requirements, test specifications, and test cases to ensure alignment with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and cybersecurity best practices. The role will involve close collaboration with engineering, validation, and product development teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and assess cybersecurity concepts and security architectures.
• Evaluate cybersecurity requirements for completeness, traceability, and compliance.
• Review test specifications, test plans, and test cases related to cybersecurity features and controls.
• Provide technical feedback on security validation and verification activities.
• Support risk assessments, threat modelling, and vulnerability review processes.
• Ensure alignment with relevant cybersecurity standards and regulations.
• Work closely with development, systems, and testing teams to drive compliance and product security improvements.

Required Experience

• Proven experience in Product Cybersecurity, Embedded Security, Industrial/OT Security, or related fields.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity verification, validation, and testing methodologies.
• Experience reviewing technical documentation, requirements, and test artefacts.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity standards and frameworks such as:
  • IEC 62443
  • ISO 21434
  • ISO 27001
  • NIST Cybersecurity Framework
• Experience with threat modelling, risk assessment, and secure development practices.
• Ability to challenge designs and provide expert-level technical review and recommendations.
