Our client is a leading industrial organisation undertaking a critical infrastructure upgrade at its facility in West Amsterdam. The project involves the replacement of a large-scale industrial refrigeration installation with a total project value of approximately ā¬4 million. This business-critical investment will modernise existing plant infrastructure, improve operational reliability, and ensure compliance with current safety and environmental standards.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major industrial refrigeration replacement project from pre-construction planning through construction, commissioning, and final handover.
The successful candidate will take ownership of the project execution, coordinating all construction activities while working closely with engineering teams, contractors, and client stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient, and timely delivery. This is a highly visible role requiring strong construction management expertise, stakeholder coordination, and leadership within a live industrial environment.
The Construction Project Manager will be responsible for integrating internal and external project teams, ensuring alignment between engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the construction phase from mobilisation through execution, commissioning, and final handover
- Manage the complete AāZ delivery of a ā¬4 million industrial refrigeration replacement project
- Coordinate and integrate project teams across the client organisation and external contractors
- Drive collaboration between engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations teams
- Participate in and lead construction progress meetings, ensuring technical, operational, safety, and commercial objectives are achieved
- Develop a strong understanding of the refrigeration installation, associated mechanical systems, utilities, and supporting infrastructure
- Oversee site activities to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications
- Track and manage project planning, scheduling, milestones, critical path activities, and overall project performance
- Monitor project risks, budgets, scope changes, and mitigation plans
- Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory requirements
- Manage communication and reporting to senior stakeholders and project sponsors
- Support commissioning, start-up, testing, and operational readiness activities
- Drive contractor performance and ensure successful delivery against project objectives
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience as a Construction Project Manager delivering major industrial construction or mechanical installation projects
- Experience managing construction projects within industrial manufacturing, heavy industry, energy, chemical, or process environments
- Experience delivering mechanical plant upgrades, refrigeration systems, utilities, or large-scale equipment replacement projects is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of industrial construction methodologies, mechanical installations, and contractor management
- Experience working closely with engineering consultants, contractors, and EPC/EPCM organisations
- Ability to review construction methodologies, schedules, and technical solutions
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary project teams and external stakeholders
- Strong project planning and scheduling expertise
- Experience managing projects within live operational facilities is advantageous
- Dutch and English language skills are essential
- Self-sufficient, proactive, and capable of operating with minimal supervision
- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
- Flexible approach to working arrangements, with a combination of on-site presence and remote working
- Hands-on, delivery-focused mindset with the ability to drive projects through to successful completion
