The Opportunity
We are currently seeking an experienced Construction Manager to join a major industrial project in Leiden, working within a highly technical and regulated life sciences environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a construction professional with experience delivering complex industrial, pharmaceutical, manufacturing or high-tech projects. You will take responsibility for the day-to-day management and coordination of construction activities on site, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
You will be working as part of an established technical organisation with extensive experience delivering integrated engineering, construction, installation and maintenance solutions across complex industrial environments.
The Role
As Construction Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing construction activities from planning through to completion, coordinating multiple stakeholders and ensuring that site works remain aligned with project requirements.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and coordinating day-to-day construction activities on site.
- Supervising subcontractors, contractors and site teams to ensure work is delivered safely and efficiently.
- Coordinating construction activities with engineering, project management and other technical disciplines.
- Monitoring progress against programme, identifying potential delays and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensuring construction works are completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and project requirements.
- Maintaining a strong focus on health, safety, quality and environmental standards.
- Coordinating permits, site access and construction logistics where required.
- Reviewing method statements, risk assessments and other construction documentation.
- Working closely with subcontractors to resolve technical and construction-related issues.
- Monitoring workmanship and ensuring quality standards are maintained throughout delivery.
- Attending site meetings and providing regular updates on construction progress.
- Supporting commissioning, handover and close-out activities.
- Ensuring all construction activities are properly documented and completed in line with project procedures.
About You
We are looking for a confident and experienced Construction Manager who is comfortable taking ownership of construction delivery within a complex industrial environment.
You will ideally have:
- Proven experience as a Construction Manager, Site Manager or similar within industrial construction.
- Experience working on complex technical projects, ideally within pharmaceutical, life sciences, manufacturing, chemical, high-tech or similar environments.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, site management and contractor coordination.
- Experience managing subcontractors and multiple site stakeholders.
- A strong understanding of HSE requirements and safe working practices.
- The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and project documentation.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- The confidence to manage issues on site and drive projects towards completion.
- Fluent English communication skills; Dutch would be advantageous.
