One of out best private clients in London is seeking to expand its Development Planning offering and is looking for an experienced Associate Director to join a London-based team. The successful candidate will have major UK transport consultancy experience in the development planning market, with clear evidence of achieving multiple high-profile planning consents as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The organisation works with a range of high-profile clients across sectors, including major developers, infrastructure operators, public sector bodies, and sports organisations.

As part of the senior management team, the role involves supporting both project delivery and client and team management activities to help grow the Development Planning team in line with ambitious UK business objectives. The position is based in a London office, within a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive working environment.

The team delivers complex projects, working closely with clients and multi-disciplinary teams to achieve efficient, innovative, and sustainable outcomes.

Main responsibilities:

  • Support growth of the UK transport Development Planning business across existing and new clients
  • Collaborate with client relationship leads to identify and secure new opportunities
  • Provide technical leadership in transport development planning
  • Lead business development and work-winning activities
  • Direct large and complex projects and bids
  • Oversee financial and commercial performance within the relevant market area
  • Secure positions on public sector frameworks and collaborate with partners
  • Act as an expert witness where required
  • Mentor and supervise team members

Requirements:

  • Consultancy background with a strong track record in transport development planning
  • Established professional network and proven business development capability
  • Demonstrated ability to win work and contribute to industry reputation
  • Experience engaging with stakeholders including local authorities and senior officials
  • Experience presenting at conferences and industry events
  • Ability to lead proposals and marketing efforts
  • Accountability for business growth and profitability
  • Strong project delivery experience across public and private sectors
  • Ability to manage risk and lead teams in mitigating commercial and reputational challenges

Compensation:

Compensation is designed to be fair and competitive, taking into account skills, experience, internal equity, and location. Employees are eligible for an annual discretionary performance bonus.

Work environment:

Full-time employees are typically expected to spend a majority of their time in the office or on client sites. Standard working hours are 37.5 per week, with flexibility considered, including part-time arrangements.
